Style | Little Red Riding Hood & Useless Introspection

Hi friends.
Hope you are all doing well.
I bought this dress off of someone from the Sydney community and I'm pretty fond of it.
It's basically a storyboard for the little red riding hood fairytale.

Emily Temple Cute - Little Red Riding Hood Print JSK
I wore it to coffee the other morning and here's a snap of me (with no makeup because lazy).
I think the dress looks cute with this basket purse that I have and my cosy red cardigan.

Close up of the story book print, featuring a cute ribbon pin made by my wonderful sister, Amanda.
I usually have it on my red cardigan because it works surprisingly well with all of my otome dresses, and I really like the contrast.

She and Soph make heaps of cute jewellery and pins.
You should check out their Etsy store at Crafts and Rec.

Seriously how cute is this ramen pin with a perfectly snarky slogan.
Cutest. Makes me want a ramen though.
Nah who am I kidding, I always want a ramen.

#notallramen
On a less cheerful note:
I've been working a bunch lately but feeling pretty directionless and blergh.
I guess there's this internal pressure to be successful/useful/working toward something, and if I'm not then I start to feel like I'm wasting time or being lazy or the plethora of other nasty mantras that spin about.
I guess I need to remember that just because I'm not being 100% ambitious 100% of the time, doesn't mean that I'm not worth having around.

Anyway feel free to leave me a comment if you stumble upon this post.
And as always thanks for reading.

Style | My Lolita skirts and dresses! (◕‿◕*)

Hi there!
I'm back again to share the contents of my lolita wardrobe so far.
Almost all of these items have been purchased second hand from other lolitas in Australia.
Things that have been purchased new include Bodyline products, Classical Puppets petticoats which are available from an online boutique called Chiffon Rose who are based in Melbourne, and Menuet Bouquet which is my first brand new brand purchase from Angelic Pretty San Francisco. :)
SO! Here is a wardrobe post with links to lolibrary where I could find them!

SO! These are the main dresses and skirts in my wardrobe currently.
I've been trying to wear mostly lolita or otome style when I go places because it's fun and I feel so much more confident when I think I look pretty out and about.

I also have some offbrand blouses, 2 Classical Puppets petticoats, my collection of cardigans, too many pairs of shoes, and a bunch of hair clips and bows.
Anyway this was a glimpse into my wardrobe.
I'm still getting rid of the things that I no longer wear.

As always, thanks for reading and please let me know what you think!
What dress do you think I should make an outfit post around next?
Stay excellent.

Outfit | Backyard squirrel party! ^__^

Hi there! *(^_^)*

Whilst doing yet another wardrobe purge (I honestly don't know how I accumulate clothing so quickly... I might have a problem), I came across the first dress I purchased from Bodyline and realised that I haven't even taken any photos of me wearing it yet!
So I decided to play dress ups and then force my lovely boyfriend to take pictures of me in the backyard. ^__^

Bodyline is loved for its cheap and accessible lolita clothing.
However as with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
I have certainly read more than a few horror stories of items from online stores arriving and looking nothing like the stock photos. Bodyline is relatively good in terms of what you see on the site is what you get, but I still received a little surprise with this dress...

This image is not reversed.
Yep. Despite the fabric not being reversible, the words in the print have been printed backward.
Not a huge deal because I doubt anyone will put their head close enough to your skirt to read it (and if they do so without asking , they are inviting you to apply your knee to their face region), but it was still amusing to experience Bodyline's infamous stuff-ups first hand. xP

My bike is in the background but I definitely couldn't ride it wearing my petticoat.
BUT! It does match me in its purpleness. :)

dress & headbow : Bodyline
petticoat : Classical Puppets
shoes : Yesstyle.com
pearls : from my mum ♥

Anyway thank you for reading and please leave a comment below!
Be well and remember to follow me on Facebook to keep track of my updates.

Style | My first lolita meetups and outfits

Hi there! :D

It has been more than a while now since I posted anything, but I wanted to share some updates about my life and my new passions!
Firstly, I feel like this blog will take a new direction from here.
So while I know there's no shortage of J-fashion and lolita/otome fashion blogs, Paper Trailing is heading in that direction as late last year I started to realise that lolita was right up my alley!
I remember my sister telling me that I was one frill away from being lolita anyway, so I took the plunge and started to build a bit of a starting collection.

me with some of the girls from Sydney Lolita
I joined the Sydney Lolita community and got a chance to meet veteran and newbie lolitas alike. Everyone was so damn lovely and it is great fun to go along to meet ups and sit around eating homemade treats in the botanical gardens or whatever activity is planned.
Here are some photos from a summer picnic with some members of the Sydney Lolita Club (it was a 45 degree day and I felt like I was actually going to pass out, but it was lovely all the same).

before I sweated off my makeup and began to overheat in my petti. =P

Whilst I didn't have any proper lolita coordinates before my third meetup, I still worked with what I had available to me and I definitely found that some imagination can help you find lolita-esque items in your wardrobe.
Typically dresses or skirts that can accommodate a petticoat will be suitable to get an idea of how you would look in lolita garb. :)

My first meetup was before I had any lolita clothing, but I had received my petticoat in the mail so I turned one of my regular dresses into a lolita-esque dress and added some accessories.

My blouse was from Bodyline, an offbrand/cheaper lolita brand from Japan, and my sail boat dress is from Review. And of course I'm wearing circle lenses here too. ^_^

People were really welcoming and while I was expecting a bit of snootiness about my outfit not being "real lolita", I received nothing but compliments on my efforts to fit the nautical theme. What I took from this, is that people aren't as judgemental as you worry they will be... so give it a go!!

Oh and the event organiser made cute little badges for everyone to wear! You can maybe see the little skull with an eye patch on my dress. ^_^

and my second meetup....
Dress is Eternal Rose Bouquet JSK by Angelic Pretty ;
Shoes are Biba mary janes from Golden Ponies

My second meetup was lunch at an Italian restaurant before a trip to the Art Gallery of NSW. Unfortunately I had to skip the gallery but one of the girls snapped a photo of me before I bopped on the train.

I had just received this dress, my first Angelic Pretty dress, but didn't have any blouses to wear it over.
Depending on who you speak to, wearing a jumperskirt (JSK) without a blouse is a faux pas.
But I dunno how many of those people live in Australia. IT GETS HOT HERE, OKAY?! ^__~*

Okay I'm done for now.
I'll be posting soon about what's in my wardrobe and the websites I have used so far.

Please let me know what you think of this post!!
I'd love to know what you think of my rambly posting style.
Be well! ^_^
