Outfit | Backyard squirrel party! ^__^

Hi there! *(^_^)*

Whilst doing yet another wardrobe purge (I honestly don't know how I accumulate clothing so quickly... I might have a problem), I came across the first dress I purchased from Bodyline and realised that I haven't even taken any photos of me wearing it yet!

So I decided to play dress ups and then force my lovely boyfriend to take pictures of me in the backyard. ^__^

Bodyline is loved for its cheap and accessible lolita clothing.
However as with most things in life, you get what you pay for. 

I have certainly read more than a few horror stories of items from online stores arriving and looking nothing like the stock photos. Bodyline is relatively good in terms of what you see on the site is what you get, but I still received a little surprise with this dress...

Yep. Despite the fabric not being reversible, the words in the print have been printed backward.
Not a huge deal because I doubt anyone will put their head close enough to your skirt to read it (and if they do so without asking , they are inviting you to apply your knee to their face region), but it was still amusing to experience Bodyline's infamous stuff-ups first hand. xP

Outfit | Liz Lisa Mermaid Floral Suspender Skirt! ^__^

Hi everyone! 

Recently I bought some Liz Lisa items from eBay! The seller was RobotKitty and shipping was crazy fast.

The items were shipped from Australia so I'd recommend RobotKitty to any Australian J-Fashion fans.

I basically wear these gold shoes with every outfit ever. 

Always feel a bit dumb posing in the yard like a dorkus. 

But I hope you like these snaps! 

The skirt is from the 2014 Spring/Summer Liz Lisa range. 

Recently I bought The Hunger Games in Korean! It's been really hard so far but it's good practice!!

I also got this MockingJay pin while I was at Supanova. ^__^

OH! And the gold bow in my hair is from Supanova as well! 

I bought a cute dress with this skirt as well and will post photos of that when I get a chance.

Life | My trip to Seoul!

It's been ages, and for that I'm sorry. It's nearly Christmas!!
I went to Seoul a little while ago! I stayed in Hongdae at Miso guesthouse.
I had the best time ever. I can't wait to go back again! I got to practice my Korean and eat so much delicious food. Anyway, I figured I'd post some photos from my trip.

Outfit | Yumetenbo dress + my lucky cardigan

Hello everyone! ^_^

For ages I've been meaning to share photos and thoughts on the items I've bought from Yumetenbo/Dreamv. 

It's already clear that I love their colourful heels, but I also have dresses from their store and their lovely!

The quality is decent for the price ($30). The lining under the lace is quite sheer, so I have to wear a singlet but that's no trouble as I do most days anyway. The little pearly gold buttons and the peter pan collar both make this a very feminine, cutesy dress. I may need to resew the buttons in the future as they're coming a bit loose. The skirt has a lining and is light and flouncy. Sometimes I wear a petticoat underneath, especially if it's a windy day. 

When buying from Yumetenbo, it's the shipping that hits your wallet hardest. 

The only shipping option is EMS and shipping cost is based on the cost of your order. shipping is 1575 yen for every 5250 yen you spend. If your order is 5251 yen, you pay 3150 yen for shipping. Nasty, right? 

For sizing, the lovely Karisa at ciramisu has a really good guide to shopping with Yumetenbo, which includes translations of the sizing guides. I have it bookmarked so I can double check everything before I place an order. 

The colour I purchased was called sax flower.
Sax usually refers to the light blue items (sometimes also called soda depending on the brand). Sometimes the translation on the Rakuten global site isn't very good.  If you're worried or confused, the styles in the list are usually in the same order as they are in the colour&detail photo.

Also I'm really pleased that this dress looks just as good in real life as it does in the promo photos.
I hate it when promo shots lie to you! :P

This dress comes in 11 different colours, so making a decision on which skirt I wanted was almost impossible! 

Luckily, I got some help from some of my friends. I sort of made them pick for me! The runner up was the blue polka dots.

Wah I want all of the colours! T_T

This here is my lucky cardigan!! 

The story of how it came to be mine is a bit embarrassing, but awesome at the same time. 

In general, I'm a bit of a rummager. Around my neighbourhood, people will put old books, fabric cuttings, cushions, bookshelves... Honestly everything you can even think of. My sister is possibly starting a blog dedicated to the things that she finds and re-utilises from the street. 

Anyway, recently I spotted a big cardboard box full of woolen sweaters and cardigans on the side of the road. 

My boyfriend stood patiently as I dug through this box. I guess he's used to it now.

But then a guy comes out of a house and yells "wait wait! I'm not throwing those out! I'm moving in!" 

I felt so bad and apologised a ton. He said it was fine (and that he'd probably have done the same thing). I complimented him on the red cardigan that I was about to steal from him and he responded with "you know... I never actually wear that anymore. Would you like to keep it?"

So a complete stranger forgave me for almost stealing his things, and then gifted me an amazing cardigan. 

Crazy story, right? I love how bright the colour is and it's all loose and cozy. ^_^

AND I even found a four leaved clover whilst wearing my lucky cardigan and taking these photos in my backyard!

I had my camera propped on a chair and was using a shutter release remote (I hope I get better at hiding it in the actual photos.. oops!). Of course my darling Sassafrass got curious about the shutter sounds and decided to put her tiny furry face right in front of the camera. So I scooped her up for a cuddle. 

She's too cute sometimes. ^_^

Collar clips!

Hello there!

Recently I bought a couple of sweater/collar clips from Etsy stores! Inspired by my love of collared shirts/dreses, and Connie from K is for Kani, who has a seemingly endless collection of them, I bought 2 different ones and thought I'd share.

This one is from Vintage Made Modern.

I am a sucker for owls. I love owls. All of the owls. So I bought this without a second thought. It's a bit fiddly as they are pins rather than clips, but it is too cute for me to care. I'm just hoping that the pins don't leave holes in fabric collars. 

And this one is from Vintage Jewelry Alcove.

There are hundreds of vintage items here and some lovely brooches. I'm not normally a gold person but this is really lovely and in great condition. I love the design and the clips make it much easier to use.

 

     I hadn't ever really shopped on Etsy before. But I feel like it's going to be another money drainer for me. I received my purchases from Yumetenbo on Monday (super fast shipping!) and am reasonably happy with the stuff I got. I didn't quite get the sizing right (everything is slightly too big; better than too small), and ended up getting a pink dress instead of mint green. But these things happen. I bought a couple of other items from Yumetenbo afterwards in a shopping frenzy. I am the worst and really need to learn to control myself when it comes to clothes shopping. :)

New circle lenses should be arriving soon and I'll post some pictures of the Yumetenbo stuff I bought soon as well. I had my final exam for health psychology yesterday, and have just started my new units; stats + criminology. I hope everyone is having a good week. ♥

Yumetenbo: procrastination shopping

Whilst procrastinating from writing my essay, I found a link to one Japanese store, which linked me to another one, and another and another... However not being able to read Japanese (except the characters for ka, ki, ku, ke, ko) I couldn't figure out if I could actually purchase any of the things I was looking at. I eventually found an english version of a really cute shop: http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/dreamv/ Yumetenbo is the store, but Rakuten is a global marketplace where you can buy from all kinds of japanese stores online. I fear the impact that this new discovery will have on my bank balance. O_O

Anyway I was uncertain about quality from this site so I only bought a couple of things. They're very Japanese but I'm hoping that I can pull them off (also hoping that they actually fit me.. translating the size charts was tricky but I got help from this blog).

There were some really cute shoes on this site too but I seriously can't figure out shoe sizes whilst shopping online. It never seems to work out properly for me and Asian sizing of shoes is particularly odd. The shipping was a bit silly... It is based on how much you spend rather than how much the items you have purchased weigh. Which I guess is great if you're ordering a lot of cheap and heavy things... Overall though it worked out to be pretty cheap. And my birthday is coming up so I may as well treat myself. I think I have been using that excuse too much lately... Ah well, back to my essay!

How Black Milk Clothing made me lose a bet.

In my last post I mentioned a bet that I had going with my friends. I am not allowed to spend money on the internet for 8 weeks (because I think I genuinely have an addiction to buying things... that may sound stupid but I spend a LOT of dollars on the internet).

To Rory and James: I am deeply ashamed of myself for the purchasing of the below item prior to the conclusion of the bet. I hope you can forgive me and trust that our friendship can survive this unfortunate occurrence.

If you float around the internet a lot, you've probably heard of Black Milk Clothing. And if you haven't and you like fashions/leggings/shiny fabrics/awesome patterns, you should go check it out because there are so many fabulous and wonderful things. It's a pretty incredible story of how it started and it really has grown into a global community with girls around the world sharing pictures of the pieces they buy. Every now and then there are releases of new things and they are always absolutely nuts. Literally thousands of people all sitting behind their screens waiting to snatch up as many shiny nylon treats as they can.
I had sweaty palms as I watched the timer tick down to the time of release... I lost the bet. But I won new clothes!

 Island Retreat cap sleeved body suit!!!

Nylon Wars: Episode 2 launched at 2:00pm today. I managed to stay strong through Episode 1 and not buy anything, but this time I couldn't resist. The above swimsuit/bodysuit was limited and I've seen limited stuff disappear in minutes never to be restocked/resewn ever again. So I said "Okay I haven't spent any money on the interwebs for 5 weeks now... I deserve a treat!". Also I've been a good girl and not smoked cigarettes. I deserve ALL of the rewards!

Stuff can be a bit insane on release days and if you've got your eye's on a limited piece, you definitely need to prepare yourself...

Tips for release days:

1. Create your account/sign in ahead of release time.
2. Know your size before release!
3. Pre-plan what you're going to buy so you don't second guess yourself, take too long adding items, and miss out.
4. Be ready to hit refresh a thousand times, because there are sometimes glitches with the shop on release days.
5. Get your items in the cart as quick as possible and proceed to checkout as quickly as you can.
6. If it says you have items out of stock, REFRESH. They might not actually be out of stock!
7. Once you're at the payment information, the items are reserved for you but don't take too long or you might miss out.

The latest release had a lot of glitches! The timer hit 0 and I hit refresh (at the same time as 100k+ other girls did too) and no items loaded! So I kept hitting refresh and 1 item loaded... Refresh... a couple more items... Every item loaded into the store one by one it seemed... But because I knew exactly what I wanted I just kept hitting refresh till I saw it, added a medium to my cart, and went straight to checkout.

It was sold out... SOLD OUT! I spent about 10 seconds doing this at my desk: 



I know it sounds ridiculous, but I genuinely nearly cried. It's really easy to miss out on limited pieces from Black Milk. I told myself it couldn't be sold out. It wasn't ALLOWED to be sold out. So I hit refresh (around 20 times) on the checkout screen until it told me it was available! The relief I felt... Oh gosh.

So the Island Retreat suit is soon to join my (currently very small) collection of Black Milk things.

WARNING: Buying Black Milk stuff is extremely exciting and addictive. Girls have posted images of their collections on Facebook and holy hell there are some girls with almost every piece that has ever been released! If you fall in love with Black Milk items, it can be extremely damaging to your wallet.
