Style | My first lolita meetups and outfits

Hi there! :D

It has been more than a while now since I posted anything, but I wanted to share some updates about my life and my new passions!
Firstly, I feel like this blog will take a new direction from here.
So while I know there's no shortage of J-fashion and lolita/otome fashion blogs, Paper Trailing is heading in that direction as late last year I started to realise that lolita was right up my alley!
I remember my sister telling me that I was one frill away from being lolita anyway, so I took the plunge and started to build a bit of a starting collection.

me with some of the girls from Sydney Lolita
I joined the Sydney Lolita community and got a chance to meet veteran and newbie lolitas alike. Everyone was so damn lovely and it is great fun to go along to meet ups and sit around eating homemade treats in the botanical gardens or whatever activity is planned.
Here are some photos from a summer picnic with some members of the Sydney Lolita Club (it was a 45 degree day and I felt like I was actually going to pass out, but it was lovely all the same).

before I sweated off my makeup and began to overheat in my petti. =P

Whilst I didn't have any proper lolita coordinates before my third meetup, I still worked with what I had available to me and I definitely found that some imagination can help you find lolita-esque items in your wardrobe.
Typically dresses or skirts that can accommodate a petticoat will be suitable to get an idea of how you would look in lolita garb. :)

My first meetup was before I had any lolita clothing, but I had received my petticoat in the mail so I turned one of my regular dresses into a lolita-esque dress and added some accessories.

My blouse was from Bodyline, an offbrand/cheaper lolita brand from Japan, and my sail boat dress is from Review. And of course I'm wearing circle lenses here too. ^_^

People were really welcoming and while I was expecting a bit of snootiness about my outfit not being "real lolita", I received nothing but compliments on my efforts to fit the nautical theme. What I took from this, is that people aren't as judgemental as you worry they will be... so give it a go!!

Oh and the event organiser made cute little badges for everyone to wear! You can maybe see the little skull with an eye patch on my dress. ^_^

and my second meetup....
Dress is Eternal Rose Bouquet JSK by Angelic Pretty ;
Shoes are Biba mary janes from Golden Ponies

My second meetup was lunch at an Italian restaurant before a trip to the Art Gallery of NSW. Unfortunately I had to skip the gallery but one of the girls snapped a photo of me before I bopped on the train.

I had just received this dress, my first Angelic Pretty dress, but didn't have any blouses to wear it over.
Depending on who you speak to, wearing a jumperskirt (JSK) without a blouse is a faux pas.
But I dunno how many of those people live in Australia. IT GETS HOT HERE, OKAY?! ^__~*

Okay I'm done for now.
I'll be posting soon about what's in my wardrobe and the websites I have used so far.

Please let me know what you think of this post!!
I'd love to know what you think of my rambly posting style.
Be well! ^_^

Life | Scones, Selfies, Stories.

 Hi everyone.
I know it's been a while since I've posted anything still. I haven't gotten around to taking photos for the final review from my last batch of circle lenses. I've really like them though! I wear them quite often.
Anyway, I figured I would post some photos of goings on in my life lately.
Oh! And in only 3 and a bit weeks I'll be heading to Korea! I honestly can't wait. I know it's going to show me how poor my Korean language skills are though. =P

Homemade scones and dolsot bibimbap.
Last Christmas my mum bought me a dolsot (Korean hot pot).
I love making my own bibimbap with whatever meat and veg I have lying around. Gochujang is so tasty!
It's the red pepper paste you mix in at the end. *drools all over keyboard*

And here is the easiest scone recipe ever
No more rubbing in butter or kneading till your hands hurt! =D

Outfit + Life | Adventures in Berry

Hi everyone.
| dress: Review | cardigan: Cotton On | scarf: thrifted |
A couple of weekends ago, I went to Berry with a group of friends.
It part of my friend Georgia's 21st birthday celebrations. Her sister hired a house in Berry for a group of Georgia's friends. Such a lovely idea for a present, and it ended up being a lovely weekend of both relaxing and partying. I also did a fair bit of knitting as we lounged in the sun, drinking tea and chatting.

Pokemon X Burton

These are brilliant and I had to share... Pokemon: Tim Burton style!
I really wish I was this creative. People amaze me. Apparently he is going to do all 151 original Pokemon! Heaps exciting. I would definitely buy a poster of these guys. =)

Art by Hatboy.

Aren't they excellent? I thought so.

Also, THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY! Although I'll likely spend my weekend finishing this essay (which I've neglected all week). Only have to write another 1000 words. I need to finally see the Dark Knight Rises over the weekend as well. People keep wanting to discuss it with me and are shocked that I haven't watched it yet. =)

Oh yeah I recently got Instagram. Not sure how often I'll use it yet. I've always kind of hated it because people just take photos of every meal they eat. =P So far I've just used old pictures that I had on my phone. But it is a great app for sharing photos.

Here is a song/music video for you. It has me in a really cheerful mood this morning.
I hope everyone has an excellent weekend! ^_^

Life | Rozelle Markets!

A few weeks ago Sophie and my sister, Amanda, asked me if I wanted to do a market stall with them. We all have ridiculously overflowing wardrobes so it made sense for us to pass on our much loved clothes to some market-going fashion lovers. We booked a stall 2 weeks in advance and began culling our wardrobes! Some of the items I had decided to part with brought tears to my eyes. All of those memories! But if I hadn't worn it in the last sixmonths, I probably wouldn't miss it.

I wish I had taken more photos on the day but I snapped a couple.

Around 9am! Pretty happy to have coffee at last.
Sophie has fabulous cotton candy coloured hair which makes me want to dye my hair wonderful colours but then I remember how it will damage my hair. This was our stall just when the markets began. Soph's nanna was selling bags and things that she'd made herself at the front of the stall but left at around midday.

Lots of sitting around watching people try on our stuff.
At the end of the day it began to dawn on all of us that we'd still have enough stuff to possibly run another market stall! And when I got home (despite being completely exhausted) I found myself mentally selecting stuff from my wardrobe that I will sell next time round. I hope I don't become addicted to selling my things! Although that's a better addiction than buying things.

I ended up making a decent amount of money (which I am determined not to spend on more clothes) and shouted my boyfriend and I some delicious thai food for dinner.
I'm determined to bring even more stuff to sell at our next stall. It was such a fun day!

A picture of a dog that I regret not buying + $5 shoes at our stall!
